Creating a Sports Betting Portal with WordPress

Creating a betting site using WordPress at first could seem very daunting, and that is a completely valid concern because betting sites need a high level of security, special features, and functions to work, whereas WordPress is usually saved for small businesses and bloggers of the world. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t create a sports betting portal using WordPress. It is possible, and I will provide you with a guide on how to achieve this.

Is It Legal?

Let’s get to the general and important questions and this is a major one. The short answer is yes, it is completely legal to create a betting site as long as you follow the laws that are needed for the country you make it in. A lot of the time, you would need a Gambling license to run a casino or whatever is similar. Making the site with WordPress specifically does not make the site any more illegal and the creation of the site is completely safe and fair as long as you comply with the laws as I said earlier.

Is It Possible To Create The Site?

The answer to this is more complex than just a yes and just a no. Making a landing page or a theme for a betting affiliate site is something that WordPress will excel at. Making a WordPress page that can show real-time odds and links to affiliate betting sites is a challenge but it can be achieved, you could make a link to a site for Euros odds and have it look great and show the necessary information with minimal skill and challenge.

However, if you were to sit there and make the perfect betting site with custom bets, payment processes and odds updating I’m not sure if WordPress is the best option. These are just the basic things that a betting site needs, the more in-depth things, like account management or live streaming would be a massive struggle to run with WordPress and you would really struggle, unfortunately. It needs specialised software and more in-depth software.

But, (yes there’s a but) it could work, there are challenges but nothing is impossible and I will show you how.

How To Do it

Okay, in all honesty, WordPress isn’t the be-all and end-all here. You can’t just use WordPress to make the site and think that this is all done. The truth is, you will need a PHP-based script to make this work, these are server-side scripting language docs which means the script gives the server instructions to execute. Some of the biggest PHP scripts are used by a lot of sites and these help the sites look and feel how a betting site should do.

All you need to create the site is:

  • A dedicated Host
  • A minimum of 100GB of storage space
  • A domain
  • A minimal amount of web development knowledge

When you have all of these and you use the scripts through WordPress you will find that your goal of making a betting site can be achieved. One of the main things to consider is the script you use. When you pick a script, it shows exactly what it offers you and every script is different for your needs. If you get this decision wrong and you pick a script that is not up to your standards then this adds more work and time and creates a challenge that I, unfortunately, cannot help with.

Even though it is such a challenge still to create a betting site using WordPress, it is easier now than it ever has been. If you pick a great script, all of your work will be through that. Your dream betting site is achievable and within reach.
